Bon Hiver

a collaboration between D Brooke Christensen and Julia Silliman Pickerill

A women’s retreat on the spirituality of wintering.

Every year, whether we're ready or not, the light begins to wane. Autumn comes slowly first, then quickly, and oftentimes the light is gone before we attune to its going.

Before all of that, while the sun is still hot and high in the sky, we’d like to invite you to consider registering for a retreat called Bon Hiver (“good winter” in French). From Friday evening until Sunday late morning, we’ll prepare for the winter through a two-night retreat exploring orientation, disorientation, and reorientation.

We’ll hold space for silence and solitude, and also cultivate space for laughter and creativity.

Meals will be sweet, simple, and vegetarian. There will be a fasting track with specific focus on the Eucharist for those interested.

You can come and sleep for hours, wander trails, sit by the fire, knit, soak in the hot tub, or enjoy a glass of wine in front of the fire.

As the retreat approaches, we’ll use this page to provide you with updates, (always optional!) ways to prepare yourself for the getaway, an itinerary, etc.
